Hi, I’m W.K. Reardon
I’ve always wanted to write a book, but for the longest time I was a writer that simply didn’t write. I would write little things here and there, but I never quite found a story that I wanted to sink my teeth into, something that was worth writing. That was until Atlas. Then, it was off to the races.
Simply put, I write stories that I would want to read, in the style that I like to read. I try to make everything as digestible as possible. Paragraph breaks, conversational tone and dialogue as a way of explaining and furthering plot points are all decisions in my writing process to make sure the reader wants to keep reading.
From there I took my experiences and ran with it. I grew up in the small town of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. My whole life I have been a huge sports fan, playing baseball from age four until I started coaching right after my playing career ended after high school. I went to West Chester University where I studied Communications with a minor in Journalism. I wrote for the local newspaper, The Daily Local, as well as the school newspaper The Quad covering sports.
After college, I explored many different jobs in many different fields. I waited tables, washed school buses, was a dispatcher for a trash company, painted houses, bartended, taught as a substitute at every grade level..then, I decided I wanted a change. I was at a very low point, living in a friend’s basement, when the idea for Atlas hit me. Finally having the idea I had been searching to write about, along with the desire to get out of Pennsylvania, I moved to Pompano Beach, Florida. There I started dating a long time friend who I met when we were 16 years old. We worked together at the Morgantown Pizza Hut. She, the cute waitress, I the pizza maker in the back. Now, Stephanie Marie is Mrs. W.K., which is by far the greatest accomplishment of my life. We now reside in Lancaster county with our cats, Loki and Phoebe, two perfect angels.
While writing Atlas I was simultaneously falling in love with my soon to be wife, something that is undoubtedly inthralled throughout the pages of Atlas. All the triumphs, struggles, searching, finding, losing and winning I experienced throughout my life are in my writing. Atlas is a raw expression wrapped into a neat bow. The fun adventure that you as the reader get to experience on the page comes from all those life experiences tied together.
